Amy Amarga, MD, is a primary care physician at Northern Medical Group, Primary Care Division, in Pawling and Brewster, New York. Dr. Amarga enjoys helping patients with their medical concerns and ensuring they receive appropriate treatments to fully thrive.
Dr. Amarga pursued a bachelor’s degree in English literature in 2005 at the New York University (NYU) College of Arts & Sciences. She then went on to receive her post-baccalaureate education at Hofstra University, preparing for her medical career.
After graduating, she received her master’s degree in public health at St. George’s University and eventually completed her medical degree at the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine. Dr. Amarga has special medical training in family medicine through St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Yonkers, New York.
During her residency, she has conducted several research projects, including improving asthma outcomes for pediatric asthma patients and supporting women with HIV/AIDS. She is currently a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Medical Association.
Outside of patient care, she enjoys watching new films, reading, listening to music, and staying active through yoga and skiing.
